LADY CHARGERS BASKETBALL LOSE TO SAINT MICHAEL'S COLLEGE

Colchester, VT (11/20/11) The Dominican College women's basketball team lost to host Saint Michael's College, 61-44, on the final day of the DoubleTree Tip-Off Classic held at the Ross Sports Center. With the loss Dominican falls to 0-3 on the season, while Saint Michael's improves to 3-2 on the year.

Colchester, VT (11/20/11)  The Dominican College women's basketball team lost to host Saint Michael's College, 61-44, on the final day of the DoubleTree Tip-Off Classic held at the Ross Sports Center.  With the loss Dominican falls to 0-3 on the season, while Saint Michael's improves to 3-2 on the year.

The Lady Chargers scored the game's first basket on a layup by Bianca Harris (Teaneck, NJ), but the hosts came back to score the next eight straight points and held an 18-5 lead with 9:14 remaining in the first half.

A jumpshot from senior Marley Klunk (York, PA) with 3:45 on the clock cut the deficit to 21-14, but the Purple Knights regained a double-digit lead to head into the half with a 29-18 lead.

Dominican rallied early in the second half as guard Shannon Lavelle* (Floral Park, NY) hit a three point basket to make the score 32-24 with 17:34 to go, but a Purple Knight 12-2 run put them ahead by 18 with just under twelve minutes to go and they would never lose a double-digit lead en route to the 61-44 victory.

KC Jentzen (Pearl River, NY) netted a game leading 20 points, shooting 9-12 from the floor to lead the Lady Chargers.  Klunk finished with 12 points and nine caroms in the loss.

DC returns to action on Monday, November 28th when they host New York Institute of Technology in a non-conference game.  Game time is set for 6pm on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.
