DOMINICAN'S LOPEZ EARNS ALL-CACC HONORABLE MENTION HONORS

New Haven, CT (2/28/11) University of the Sciences senior forward Caitlin Shaw has been named the 2010-11 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Basketball Player of the Year, as the All-Conference team was released today. Caldwell College forward Jeanette Anderson claimed Rookie of the Year honors, while USciences head coach Paul Stadelberger was voted Coach of the Year by his peers. Georgian Court University was given the annual Team Sportsmanship Award.

New Haven, CT (2/28/11)  University of the Sciences senior forward Caitlin Shaw has been named the 2010-11 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Basketball Player of the Year, as the All-Conference team was released today. Caldwell College forward Jeanette Anderson claimed Rookie of the Year honors, while USciences head coach Paul Stadelberger was voted Coach of the Year by his peers. Georgian Court University was given the annual Team Sportsmanship Award.

Dominican College women's basketball player, Lindsey Lopez, received All-CACC Honorable Mention honors.

Lopez, a sophomore guard from Elmwood Park, NJ, leads the Chargers in both scoring and assists.  She also leads the CACC in three-point field goals made, ranks 15th in scoring, 7th in free throw percentage, 15th in steals and 5th in three-point field goal percentage.

Shaw, who hails from Eatontown, N.J., made the jump from being an honorable mention All-CACC pick last season to claim Player of the Year this season. Entering postseason play, Shaw leads the CACC and ranks eighth in the nation in scoring with 20.0 points per-game. She scored in double figures in every game this season, registered 10 double-doubles and poured in a conference-high 34 points in November against Bloomsburg. She also stands fourth in the conference in rebounding (9.6), second in field-goal percentage (.552) and 12th in free-throw percentage (.765). Shaw has led the Devils to a No. 7 regional ranking and a No. 2 seed in the South Division in the CACC Tournament. USci is 21-5 overall and went 16-3 in conference play and will host Goldey-Beacom College Monday night in the opening round.

Anderson, who is from Lynn, Mass., is the third consecutive Cougar to claim Rookie of the Year honors (following Torey Jones and Kaitlyn Lambert) for head coach Linda Cimino. Anderson, who was also a second team All-CACC pick, ranks among the conference's top 10 in scoring, rebounding, field-goal percentage and offensive rebounds. She is ninth in scoring with 14.0 points per-game, fifth with 9.3 rebounds per-contest, fifth in field-goal percentage (.507) and second in offensive rebounds per-game (3.92). Anderson tallied nine double-doubles in 19 conference games, including 30-point, 11-rebound efforts against both Philadelphia University and Georgian Court.
Stadelberger was voted Coach of the Year in just his second season at USciences. The Devils missed the conference tournament last season with an 8-11 conference record, but under Stadelberger's guidance, the team made an eight-game improvement this season to finish 16-3 in conference play and 21-5 overall. USci ranks second in the conference in scoring defense (55.4) and scoring margin (+10.9), and tops the league in field-goal percentage defense (.343). The Devils enter postseason play having won 15 of their last 16 games.
Holy Family senior guard Catherine Carr earned All-Conference honors for the fourth time in her career, including first team status for the third straight year. Caldwell senior guard Kirsty Leedham and Bloomfield College senior forward Tiffany McDaniel each picked up their third consecutive All-Conference award. Victoria Sweet of Nyack College, Jacinda Jones of Goldey-Beacom, Quay Baskerville of Felician College, Torey Jones of Caldwell and Lauren Peters of Holy Family each claimed All-Conference status for the second straight season. Baskerville and Torey Jones each earned first team honors this season after being third team recipients in 2009-10.
