LADY CHARGERS RALLY IN SECOND HALF TO DEFEAT FELICIAN COLLEGE
Rutherford, NJ (1/21/10) The Dominican College women's basketball team used a 48-point second half to earn a 72-67 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference North Division women’s basketball victory over host Felician College on Thursday evening at Job Gymnasium.
Felician led, 29-24, at halftime, and was ahead by eight points with 16 minutes left in the game. But Dominican then canned five three-point field goals, including three from Lindsey Lopez (Elmwood Park, NJ) during a 24-6 run which gave it a double-digit advantage. The Golden Falcons stayed within striking distance, cutting an 11-point lead to three at the 1:20 mark, but the Lady Chargers were able to secure the victory at the free throw line.
Senior Adele Laskowski (Wayne, NJ) and Lopez led the team with 14 points each and combined for five assists on the night. Guard Rachelle Sainten (Spring Valley, NY) netted 13 points and four assists, while freshman Shannon Lavelle (Floral Park, NY) added 11 points, all from the free throw line, and grabbed a team leading six rebounds in the victory.
With the victory Dominican improves to 9-6 overall and 6-1 in the CACC.
Dominican is back in action on Saturday when they host Philadelphia University in CACC action on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center for a 1pm game.
