DOMINICAN'S CHAMBERS NAMED TO DAKTRONICS NCAA DIVISION II WOMEN'S BASKETBALL EAST ALL-REGION TEAM

Orangeburg, NY (3/12/09) Dominican College women's basketball player, Althea Chambers, has been named to the 2008-09 Daktronics NCAA Division II Women's Basketball East All-Region Second Team as was announced yesterday. Daktronics is a world leader in programmable electronic signs, electronic and digital displays and scoreboards.
Chambers, a senior from Yonkers, NY, has been a four-year member of the Lady Chargers and a team captain for the last three seasons. She led the team in scoring and rebounding for the last two years and averaged 18.0 ppg and 7.0 rpg this season. She ranks third in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) in scoring, 16th in rebounding, 14th in field goal percentage, 9th in free-throw percentage, 8th in steals and 9th in offensive rebounds.
She netted her 1,000th career point in a 76-57 victory over Bloomfield College on 2/10/09 and had a career high 43 points in a triple-overtime loss to CACC Champions Philadelphia University on 2/14/09. For her career, Chambers has amassed 1,141 points to put her in 14th place in Sue Heller 1,000 Point Club and is 10th in All-Time Career Rebounds at DC.
Chambers was named the CACC, Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) and PrestoSports/MBWA Player of the Week honors this season for the week ending February 15th. She was named to the All-CACC First Team last week after receiving Honorable Mention honors in 2008.
