LADY CHARGERS BASKETBALL DEFEAT POST UNIVERSITY

Waterbury, CT (2/19/09) The Dominican College women's basketball team won a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game against host Post University, 67-64 this evening from the Drubner Center.
DC started off strong with an 11-4 run, but the Eagles fought back to cut the deficit to 22-18 and trailed by one point, 25-24 at the break.
In the second half, the Lady Chargers once again started off strong with a 10-2 run in the first three and a half minutes of the half. Sophomore Mallorie Michalak (Meriden, CT) buried a three pointer to cut the Lady Charger lead to 49-45 with eight minutes left in the game.
With 2.5 seconds left in the game and DC with a three point lead, the Lady Chargers turned over the ball on the inbounds pass. Post got a chance to send the game into overtime, but the last second three point basket fell short of the net.
Michalak led the Eagles with 18 points and nine rebounds. Jackie Sutton () had 12 points and seven boards, while Stephanie Goss () had 11 points and nine caroms in the loss.
Junior forward Adele Laskowski (Wayne, NJ) led Dominican with 17 points, shooting 50% (3-6) from the three point line. Senior Althea Chambers (Yonkers, NY) had the game's only double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Senior Shalissa Burgess (Englewood, NJ) netted eight points and six rebounds in the victory.
With the victory Dominican improves to 15-10 overall and 12-3 in the CACC,while Post falls to 3-22 overall and 0-15 in the CACC.
The Lady Chargers are back in action on Saturday when they host Chestnut Hill College on Senior Day and Think Pink Day at the Hennessy Center. Game time is set for 1pm on Coach Baxter Court
