WOMEN'S BASKETBALL HOLDS ON TO DEFEAT POST UNIVERSITY
Orangeburg, NY (1/24/09) The Dominican College women's basketball team fought off a late second half rally to defeat the visiting Eagles of Post University, 66-62 this afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women's action on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.

The Eagles took an early 7-2 lead, but the Lady Charger went on 12-6 run to take a 14-13 lead and closed out the half with a 5-0 run for a 26-19 lead at the intermission.
The Lady Chargers never trailed in the second half, leading by as many as 11 points, but the Eagles put together a 10-3 run in the span of about three minutes to cut the lead to 62-62 with 0:48 seconds to go. Freshman forward Marley Klunk (York, PA) went to the charity stripe and converted two crucial free throws with 0:13 seconds left to secure the 66-62 victory.
Junior forward Adele Laskowski (Wayne, NJ) led all scorers with 22 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Klunk game off the bench to finish with 11 points, while senior Shalissa Burgess (Englewood, NJ) had a game leading 11 caroms. Freshman guard Kaity Lent (Vineland, NJ) scored nine points in the win.
The Eagles had four players in double figures, led by senior guard Jackie Sutton (Dryden, NY) who had 15 points and eight rebounds. Sophomore Mallorie Michalak (Meriden, CT) netted 13 points, while Cassidie Ern (Hope Valley, RI) had 12 points and nine rebounds. Senior Stephanie Goss (Manchester, CT) led the team with 10 rebounds and had 10 points in the loss.
With the win Dominican improves to 9-8 overall and 6-1 in the CACC, while Post falls to 3-13 overall and 0-6 in the CACC.
Dominican is back in action on Tuesday when they host rival, Nyack College, in CACC women's basketball action on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center. Tip-off is slated for 6pm.
