Orangeburg, NY (1/15/09) The visiting Dominican College Lady Chargers basketball team charged past the Bloomfield College Deacons, 66-47 this evening in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women's basketball action from the Deacon Den in Bloomfield, NJ.

The Deacons had the only lead of the game at 15:07 on a layup by Emily Horrecks. The Lady Chargers quickly tied the game at 6-6 on a jumper by senior Althea Chambers (Yonkers, NY) and took a three point lead on a basket from junior Rachelle Sainten (Spring Valley, NY). DC never looked back as they took a 33-25 lead into the intermission.
The Lady Chargers extended the lead to eleven points (45-34) with 12:15 left to play when they went on a 19-6 run to take a dominating 64-40 lead and went on to the 66-47 victory.
Sainten and junior forward Adele Laskowski (Wayne, NJ) led Dominican with 13 points a piece and combined for seven assists. Freshman guard Kaity Lent (Vineland, NJ) netted 11 points, while Megan Murphy (Carmel, NY) came off the bench to net eight points. Chambers finished with 10 caroms, while senior center Shalissa Burgess (Englewood, NJ) had a game leading 11 rebounds.
With the victory Dominican improves to 7-7 overall and 4-0 in the CACC.
The Lady Chargers are back in action on Saturday when they host Felician College in CACC women's basketball action. Tip-off is set for 1pm on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.
