DOMINICAN WINS FAIRFIELD INN CLASSIC

Nyack, NY (11/17/07) Dominican College defeated
the University of Bridgeport this afternoon 65-38 to win the
Fairfield Inn Classic. Both teams won their first round game
the night before so the winner of the game would be named the
Tournament Champion. Bentley College (Preseason #7 in NCAA DII)
defeated Nyack College this afternoon in the final game of the
Fairfield Inn Classic, 72-65. Bentley improves to 1-1 on the
year while Nyack falls to 0-2.
Dominican took a 28-22 lead into halftime. In the second
half The Chargers pulled away by stepping up both their defense and
their offense. They held UB to 27 % shooting in the second
half and they shot 46% from the field which was an improvement over
their 34% in the first half. Dominican outscored UB 37-16 in
the final frame to go on for the 27-point victory.
Adele Laskowski (Wayne, NJ)led the Chargers with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Kristen Tracy (Bronx, NY) chipped in with 11 points and Dana Rotio (Garfield, NJ) had 9. Shalissa Burgess (Englewood, NJ) had 8 points and 4 rebounds and was named the MVP of the Fairfield Inn Classic averaging 13 points and 6.5 rebounds and shooting over 60% from the field in 2 games.
Shannon Malone led Bridgeport with 12 points and 5 rebounds. Stephanie Darden chipped in with 9.
