LADY CHARGERS CRUISE PAST POST UNIVERSITY EAGLES ON SENIOR NIGHT 

Blauvelt,  NY (2/27/08)  The Dominican College Lady Chargers basketball team defeated the Eagles of Post University, 63-47 on Senior Night at Coach Baxter Court in the final Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game.

DC opened up the game with a commanding 25-3 lead, capped off with a 15-0 run with just under six minutes remaining in the half.  Post rebounded with a 12-1 run to cut the deficit to 26-15 at the intermission.

The Eagles were able to cut the lead to seven points twice in the second half.  The last time with 7:01 left in the game, but the Lady Chargers finished the game with an 11-2 run for the 63-47 victory.

Freshman guard Mallorie Michalk (Meriden, CT) led the Eagles with 16 points and three steals.  Junior Stephanie Goss (Macnester, CT) netted 10 points and a team leading eight rebounds.

Dominican had three players in double figures, led by junior Althea Chambers (Yonkers, NY) with 22 points (shooting 8-9 from the floor) and a game leading nine rebounds.  Guard Dana Rotio (Garfield, NJ) scored 11 points and a game leading six assists and four steals.  Sophomore forward Adele Laskowski (Wayne, NJ) netted 10 points in the win.

Before the game, the Lady Chargers honored seniors Kristen Tracey (Bronx, NY) and Dana Rotio with a ceremony and presentation of their framed jerseys.

With the win, Dominican improves to 20-7 overall and 14-3 in the CACC, while Post falls to 5-20 overall and 4-13 in conference play.

The Lady Chargers are back in action on Saturday in the quarter-finals of the CACC Tournament.  Game time will be 2pm on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.
