LADY CHARGERS CHARGE PAST BLOOMFIELD COLLEGE

Bloomfield, NJ (2/2/08)  The Dominican College women's basketball team revenged a loss earlier this season with a 60-56 victory over host Bloomfield College this afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women's hoops action.

The Deacons had one player in double figures as Ciera Darby (Trenton, NJ) led all scorers with 22 points.  Alexis Sweeney and Shantae Barnes each had nine points, while Barnes had a game leading 13 rebounds.  Tiffany McDaniel added 11 rebounds in the loss.

Dominican had four players in double figures led by junior Alteah Chambers (Yonkers, NY) with 14 points and six rebounds.  Sophomore Rachelle Sainten (Spring Valley, NY) netted 13 points, nine rebounds and three steals.  Center Shalissa Burgess (Englewood, NJ) chipped in 12 points and six caroms.  Senior guard Dana Rotio (Garfield, NJ) added 11 points (7-7 from the charity stripe) and a team leading four assists.

With the win Dominican improves to 16-4 overall and 10-1 in the CACC, while Bloomfield falls to 9-10 overall and 6-4 in the CACC.

The Lady Chargers are back in action on Tuesday when they host CACC foe, Nyack College.  Game time is 6pm on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.
