Dominican Lady Chargers Lose Two in Hoop N Surf Tournament

Blauvelt, NY (12/22/05) The Dominican College Lady Chargers basketball team dropped two games this past week at the Hoop N Surf Tournament held in Honolulu, Hawaii.

The first game which was played on Tuesday (12/20) saw Ashland University (5-5) come away with a 85-57 win over Dominican, who dropped to 5-3. Sophomore Dana Rotio (Garfield, NJ) and junior Jackie Tracey (Bronx, NY) led the team with nine points and two steals each. Danielle Armiento (Pelham, NY) and Beth DePalo (Rumson, NJ) chipped in six points in the loss.

The second game, which was held the next day, found the Lady Chargers up against a tough Grand Valley State University team. GVSU improved their record to 10-2 with a 67-50 win over DC, who dropped to 5-4. Rotio again led the team with 13 points and grabbed five rebounds, including three steals. Senior Jill Younghans (Succasunna, NJ) had eight points, shooting 50% from the three point arc, while Armiento added seven points. Center Ashley Rossi (Greenwood Lake, NY) led the team with six rebounds, while Tracey chipped in six points.

Dominican returns home on Christmas Eve and will be back in action on Wednesday, January 4th when they travel to Dowling College in a non-conference showdown.
