#3 Franklin Pierce College Advances To ECAC Championship With A 70-48 Win
Blauvelt, NY (3/10/06) The #3 Franklin Pierce College women’s basketball team advanced to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship game after posting a 70-48 victory over the #2 Dominican College Lady Chargers this evening at the Hennessy Center.

Blauvelt, NY (3/10/06) The #3 Franklin Pierce College women’s basketball team advanced to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship game after posting a 70-48 victory over the #2 Dominican College Lady Chargers this evening at the Hennessy Center.
Franklin Pierce College put together a 9-0 run early in the game
to go up 15-9 as Nicola Dalton
(Danbury, CT) hit a jumper.
Dominican cut the lead to three as Danielle Armiento
(Pelham, NY) converted a three point play, after hitting a
lay up and the free throw. That would be as close as the Lady
Chargers would get as the Ravens took a 13 point lead into the
locker room at the half, 39-26.
Franklin Pierce stayed hot in the second half as they extended their lead to 24 points, 66-42, with just over three minutes remaining in the game. Jennifer Leedham (Ellesmere Port, England) hit the final jumper of the game for the final, 70-48 win.
The Ravens had four players in double figures, led by Leedham with 15 points. Danielle D’Ettore (Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario ) netted 14 points and seven rebounds. Freshman Vanessa Power (Mildura, Australia) had 13 points off the bench. Heather Jacobs (Stoughton, MA) scored 10 points and seven rebounds in the win. Stephanie Bergeron (Pointe Claire, Quebec) had a game leading five assists.
The Chargers had two players in double figures, led by junior guard Jackie Tracey (Bronx, NY) with 11 points, six rebounds and four assists. Sophomore Dana Rotio (Garfield, NJ) netted 10 points. Senior Ashley Rossi (Greenwood Lake, NY) had nine points and a game leading eight rebounds. Senior Danielle Dugan (Bayonne, NJ) scored six points and seven rebounds, while Armiento (Pelham, NY) finished with seven points.
With the win Franklin Pierce College will travel to Holy Family University to take on top seeded Philadelphia University tomorrow in the ECAC Championship Game. Tip-off is set for 5:30 pm in Philadelphia.
