Dominican Lady Chargers Overpower Georgian Court University, 89-44
Blauvelt, NY (1/14/06)The Dominican College Lady Chargers basketball team defeated the Lady Lions from Georgian Court University, 89-44 this afternoon in CACC women's hoops action at the Hennessy Center.
Dominican dominated the game, shooting 50% (34-68) from the floor and going 9-16 (56.3%) from the arc. Georgian Court shot 33.3% from the floor and 46.2% from the three point arc. GCU led twice early in the first half by one, but DC took the lead for good with seventeen minutes remaining, en route to a 41-22 lead at halftime.
The Lady Lions were led by freshman guard Annie Alosa (Concord, NJ) with 10 points, two assists and three steals. Barbara Jones (Cream Ridge, NJ) netted eight points and had a team leading seven rebounds, while Amanda Frost (Howell, NJ) and Melissa Elsbree (Howell, NJ) also had eight points a piece in the loss.
Four Lady Chargers reached double figures, led by senior shooter Jill Younghans (Succasunna, NJ) with 15 points (3-6 from the arc) and three steals. Jackie Tracey (Bronx, NY) and freshman Shalissa Burgess (Englewood, NJ) chipped in 13 points a piece, while Tracey had a game leading nine assists and three steals. With the win, Dominican improves to 8-6 overall and 6-3 in the CACC, while Georgian Court falls to 3-9 overall and 2-7 in the CACC.
Dominican is back in action on Tuesday, January 17th as they travel to Goldey-Beacom College in a CACC match up. Game time is 6pm.
