Wilmington Women Fall to Dominican, 73-49

New Castle, DE - The Lady Wildcats of Wilmington College fell to the visiting Chargers of Dominican College, 73-49 in CACC women's hoops action Saturday afternoon at the Pratt Center.

Dominican opened the game with a 17-4 run over the first nine minutes as the Charger defense, accompanied with poor shooting from Wilmington, held the Wildcats scoreless for a period of six minutes during that run.

The Chargers shot an astounding five of seven beyond the arc, cruising to a 38-15 halftime lead. Wilmington shot a dismal 23 percent from the floor during the period, and turned the ball over 10 times, leading to 10 Charger points.

Wilmington regrouped in the second half, keeping pace with Dominican, but it was too little too late for the Wildcats. The Chargers continued their torrid shooting, nailing 14 of 26 from the floor, as they cruised to the 24 point victory.

Dominican shot 52 percent from the floor for the game, compared to Wilmington's 30 percent. The Chargers held the advantage on the glass 45-28, and picked up 13 steals for the game.

The Wildcats were led by sophomore center Nordia Henry who posted 12 points and 9 rebounds. Freshman guard Barb Fleming added 10 points while junior guard Katelin Klingert chipped in with 8 for Wilmington.

The Chargers were led by Jackie Tracey, who recorded 18 points on 7-10 shooting. Tracey also added 6 rebounds. Jill Younghans had 12 points while Ashley Rossi added 11 points and 6 boards. Dana Rotio picked up 8 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists, and 4 steals in a solid all-around performance for Dominican.

Following the game Wilmington dropped to 0-6 in the CACC and 1-8 overall on the season. Dominican improved to 4-2 in the conference and 6-5 overall.
