LADY CHARGERS VOLLEYBALL CHARGE PAST CONCORDIA COLLEGE

Orangeburg, NY (10/13/09) The Dominican College women's volleyball team charged past the visiting Clippers from Concordia College, 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-10) this evening in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.
DC held a 9-7 lead in the first set when libero Jordyn Fuller (Keller, TX) served five straight points to build up a 15-7 lead. Freshman Courtney Heard (Ventura, CA) would later have six consecutive service points to extend the Lady Charger lead to 22-14 as they went on to the 25-14 set win.
Tied 10-10 in the second the set Dominican went on a 6-3 run to go up 16-13. Freshman setter Whitney Ranger (Ventura, CA) served seven points, including three service aces to extend the Lady Charger lead to 23-13 en route to the 25-17 set win and take a 2-0 match lead.
The Lady Chargers jumped out to a 10-2 lead in the first set and never looked back as they took the third set 25-10 and closed out a 3-0 match victory.
The Clippers were led by junior Amanda Byrd (Clarkston, MI) with four kills and setter Amanda Margedant (La Habara Heights, CA) had eight assists.
Freshman Michelle Fiorvanti (Commack, NY) led the Lady Chargers with nine kills. Teammates Kristen Loney (Pine Bush, NY) and Michelle Kimas (Thornwood, NY) each added eight kills in the victory, while Ranger had a match leading 27 assists and six aces.
With the victory Dominican improves to 15-8 overall and 9-3 in the CACC, while Concordia falls to 0-17 overall and 0-10 in the CACC.
DC returns to action on Thursday when they host Caldwell College in CACC action. Match time is slated for 7pm on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.
