Bronxville, NY (9/15/09) The Dominican College women's volleyball squad swept host Concordia College, 3-0 (25-7, 25-13, 25-11) this evening in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action.
Bronxville, NY (9/15/09) The Dominican College women's volleyball squad swept host Concordia College, 3-0 (25-7, 25-13, 25-11) this evening in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action.
Dominican opened up the first set with six straight points and went on to build up a commanding 17-4 lead. In the final 11 points of set one, DC outscored Concordia 8-3 en route to the 25-7 win.
The second set also so the Lady Chargers on the offensive attack as they opened with a 7-1 lead. The Clippers cut the lead to 11-8 but a 10-2 run by Dominican put them ahead 21-10 as they went on to the 25-13 set victory.
In the third set, DC held a 10-5 lead when they went on an 11-5 tear to take a 21-10 lead and the eventual 25-11 set win and 3-0 match victory.
Freshman Michelle Fiorvanti (Commack, NY) led the Lady Chargers with a match leading 13 kills. Kristen Loney (Pine Bush, NY) added eight kills, while Courtney Heard (Ventura, CA) tallied seven kills and a team leading six services aces. Setter Whitney Ranger (Ventura, CA) had a match leading 33 assists.
With the victory Dominican improves to 7-4 overall and 3-0 in the CACC.
DC is back in action on Thursday when they travel to Caldwell College in CACC women's volleyball action. Game time is 7pm in Caldwell, NJ.
