WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL SPLITS ON DAY ONE OF Le MOYNE COLLEGE INVITATIONAL
Syracuse, NY (9/12/09) The Dominican College women's volleyball team split on day one of the Le Moyne College Invitational this afternoon. DC won their opening match against Post University, 3-0 (25-23, 25-14, 25-14) but fell in the night cap to American International College, 3-0 (22-25, 21-25, 21-25).

DC won their opening match against Post University, 3-0 (25-23, 25-14, 25-14) but fell in the night cap to American International College, 3-0 (22-25, 21-25, 21-25).
In their first match of day, DC charged past the Eagles of Post University, 3-0 (25-23, 25-14, 25-14) to improve to 5-2 on the year. Trailing 20-17 in the first set, DC went on an 8-3 run to take the first set. In the second set Dominican was behind 12-10, when the offense ignited with an 15-2 run to take the second set 25-14. The Lady Chargers jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the third set and never looked back en route to the 25-14 set win and 3-0 match victory.
CACC Rookie of the Week, Michelle Fiorvanti (Commack, NY) led Dominican with 10 kills in the match, while freshman setter Whitney Ranger (Ventura, CA) tallied 19 assists and Courtney Heard (Ventura, CA) led the team with six digs in the win.
In the night cap, AIC took a 6-1 lead in the first set until the Lady Chargers went on a 12-3 tear to take a 13-9 lead. The Yellow Jackets answered back with a 10-1 run to take a 19-14 lead en route to teh 25-22 first set win.
Tied at 21-21 in the second set, AIC took advantage of two Lady Charger attack errors for a 25-21 set win. The Yellow Jackets jumped out to a 9-3 lead in the third set and never looked back in en route to the 25-21 set win and 3-0 victory.
Freshman outside hitter Michelle Klimas (Thornwood, NY) led the team with six kills and nine defensive digs in the match. Ranger finished with 19 assists.
With the split Dominican is now 5-3 overall.
DC returns to action tomorrow at the Le Moyne College Invitational when they take on Millersville University and host Le Moyne.
