Rutherford, NJ (10/25/07) The Felician College
volleyball team defeated visiting Dominican (N.Y.) College, 3-0
(30-16, 30-12, 30-26) in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference
North Division match Thursday night at Job Gymnasium. It is the
Felician program's first victory over Dominican in eight all-time
meetings.
The Chargers (5-14, 5-10) erased a 20-13 Game 3 deficit for a 23-23 tie, only to see Felician run off the next five points. Five points later, a kill by Dee Dee Smith (Monticello, NY) gave the Golden Falcons the victory. Felician (4-20, 4-10) had captured the first two games in only 35 minutes, and needed 1:08 to wrap up the match.
Golden Falcon sophomore setter Nicole Degenhardt (Secaucus, NJ) had 39 assists and guided the offense to a .286 attack percentage. Smith finished with 19 kills and three blocks while hitting .447, and libero Erica Moore (Ridgefield Park, NJ) amassed 28 digs. The win kept Felician alive as it chases Dominican for the CACC North's final conference tournament berth.
Catherine Giordano (Stony Point, NY/North Rockland) recorded seven kills and 12 digs for the Chargers.
The Lady Chargers are back in action on Saturday when they host
the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia in CACC volleyball
action. Game time is 12pm at the Hennessy Center.
