NYACK COLLEGE WARRIORS COME BACK TO DEFEAT DOMINICAN LADY CHARGERS
Blauvelt, NY (9/27/07) The Nyack College Warriors bounced back from an 0-1 deficit to defeat host Dominican College, 3-1 this evening in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) volleyball action on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center.
After losing the first game, 23-30, Nyack took the second game 30-24 and the third, 30-25 and fought back from a 29-26 potential loss to win the fourth and decisive game, 31-29.
The Warriors were led by senior Wendy Paige (Harriman, NY) who led all attackers with 17 kills and two blocks. Taneisha Cantave (Suffern, NY) added 11 kills and a match leading six blocks in the win. Setter Tara Leegwater (Rdigewood, NJ) had 43 assists, while Lacey McCabe (Plani, TX) had eight kills, respectively.
For the Lady Chargers, junior outside hitter, Kinikia
Collier (Garnerville, NY) led the team with 13 kills and
13 digs. Fellow junior Theresa Hanneman (Pearl River,
NY) added 12 kills and five service aces in the
loss. Setter Kaitlin Earl (Greenville, NY)
had 34 assists, while Ashley Simpson (Spring Valley,
NY) had three blocks.
With the win, the Warriors improve to 4-5 overall and 3-2 in the CACC, while the Lady Chargers falls to 2-7 on the year and 2-4 in the CACC.
Dominican is back in action on Saturday when they travel to Goldey-Beacom College. Game time is 1pm at the Hennessy Center on Coach Baxter Court.
