GEORGIAN COURT VOLLEYBALL CRUISES PAST DOMINICAN COLLEGE

Lakewood, NJ (9/15/07) The Georgian Court University Volleyball cruised past Central Atlantic College Conference opponent Dominican College 3-0 (30-17, 30-15, 30-22) Saturday morning.  The Lions improve to 6-4 overall, 2-0 in conference action, while Dominican falls to 0-4 overall, 0-1 in the CACC.

Ann Casado (Brick, NJ/Brick) led the Georgian Court attack with 13 kills while teammate Billeny Rivera (Toa Baja, PR/Superior Catolica) finished with 11 attacks.  Also in double figures for the Lions were Stephanie Rivera (Toa Alta, PR/Bayamon Military Academy) and Janelle Murdock (Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Regional).  

Helping push GCU?'s offense was veteran-setter, Heather Walker (Hanover, Ontario/John Diefenbaker) who tallied 31 assists in the win.  Lisamary Figueroa (Toa Alta, PR/Bayamon Military Academy) added 13 assists for the Lions.

Leading the Lions defense was libero Rebecca Walczak (Toms River, NJ/Toms River East) who dug up 14 Charger attacks while teammate Joann Zayas (Naranjito, PR/Naranjito) dug up 13 attacks.  Leading Georgian Court's front row was Crystal Murdock (Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Regional) who picked up 2 blocks and assisted on 4 blocks in the win.

Dominican tallied 9 kills in the loss.  Theresa Hanneman (Pearl River, NY) picked up 3 kills while teammates Ashley Simpson (Spring Valley, NY), Kinikia Collier (Garnerville, NY), and Yashani Smith (West Haverstraw, NY) added 2 kills apiece for the Chargers.  

Kaitlin Earl worked hard for Dominican?s defense, digging up 10 Lion attacks to lead the team.  Also leading the Chargers defensively was Smith with 4 assisted blocks and 1 solo block.
