Molloy Volleyball Defeats Dominican College 3-2
Rockville Centre, NY Senior Karen Quiambao (East Meadow, NY) handed out 58 assists during the 3-2 (30-23, 26-30, 30-25, 27-30, 15-12) volleyball victory over the Lady Chargers of Dominican College on October 6. With the non-conference victory, Molloy improved their overall record to 7-11, while the Lady Chargers fell to 3-15.

Rockville Centre, NY Senior Karen Quiambao (East Meadow, NY) handed out 58 assists during the 3-2 (30-23, 26-30, 30-25, 27-30, 15-12) volleyball victory over the Lady Chargers of Dominican College on October 6. With the non-conference victory, Molloy improved their overall record to 7-11, while the Lady Chargers fell to 3-15.
A service ace by junior Angela Barra (East Meadow, NY) and a kill by senior Anne Dunphy (Carle Place, NY) gave Molloy the 14-13 advantage. The Lady Lions pulled away by eight points (27-19) with back to back kills by Barra and an ace by Quiambao. Molloy sealed the 30-23 game one victory with a kill by junior Michelle Drury (Bellmore, NY).
Dominican pulled away by five points (14-9) but a kill by freshman Stephanie Betancourt (Baldwin, NY) brought the Lady Lions back on track. Michelle Drury tied the game at 17 when she smacked down the ball. However, the Chargers pulled through at the end and came away with game two, 30-26.
Both teams battled back and forth for the lead in game three and Molloy finally took a three point lead (17-14) off three straight service aces by junior Diann Drury (Bellmore, NY). Diann Drury finished off the Lady Chargers in game three with two aces and the 30-25 win.
Molloy held a 12-9 lead after a block by Quiambao and Barra but Dominican tied the game at 13. The Lady Chargers then took the 20-17 advantage and would hold on to the 30-27 game four victory. Game five came down to the wire as neither took more than a two point lead. Dunphy's kill tied the game at 12 and then one by Betancourt, gave Molloy a one point edge (13-12). Dominican's Theresa Hanneman had an attack error and Dunphy gave the Lady Lions the victory when she placed the ball in the empty spot on the Chargers court.
Diann Drury led all players with 22 kills, while Dunphy finished the match with 19 kills. Barra and Betancourt each had 12 kills during the five games. Quiambao added 15 digs to her 58 assists. Senior Alicia Curci (Carle Place, NY) contributed 15 digs for the Lady Lions.
Kinikia Collier (Garnerville, NY) led the Lady Chargers with 13 kills and 20 digs. Sophomore Theresa Hanneman (Pearl River, NY) added 11kills in the loss. Setter Kaitlin Earl (Greenville, NY) had 35 assists.
The Lady Chargers are back in action tomorrow afternoon when they host Goldey-Beacom College in a CACC game.
