Lady Chargers Volleyball Triumphs Over Nyack, 3-1

Blauvelt, NY (10/25/05)The Dominican College womens volleyball team triumphed over Nyack College, 3-1 this evening, highlighting senior night at the Hennessy Center.

Dominican was in the groove early, taking the first two games 30-28 and 30-25. The Lady Warriors rallied to take control in the third game, winning 30-26 to pull within one game. However, DC regrouped and won a thriller 30-28 to win the match.

The Lady Chargers were led by freshman Kinikia Collier (Garnerville, NY) who had a double-double with a match leading 20 kills and 22 digs. Fellow freshman Theresa Hanneman (Pearl River, NY) added 11 kills, while senior setter Megan Earl (Greenville, NY) contributed a double-double with a match leading 43 assists, 26 digs and 9 kills in her final home match at Dominican. Fellow senior Shelley Dall (Tomkins Cove, NY) had six kills and freshman Ashley Simpson (Spring Valley, NY) had eight kills and six blocks.

For the Lady Warriors, Lisa Schlea (Berea, OH) also had a double-double leading the team with 18 kills and 11 blocks. Wendy Paige (Harriman, NY) had 13 kills, while Tara Leegwater (Ridgewood, NJ) had 36 assists. Freshman Lauren Stuart

(Trujillo, Peru) contributed 10 kills and 12 digs in the loss.

Dominican will be in action again on Wednesday, November 2 as they travel to CACC foe Philadelphia University at 7pm.
