Nyack, NY (10/15/05) Today the Lady Warriors hosted rival Dominican College andWilmington College. The first two teams to play were Dominican and Nyack. Previous losing to Dominican, Nyack came in looking for a win.

This weekend is homecoming weekend for Nyack College and there's

nothing better than beating your rival on this special occasion. The

Lady Warriors went on to defeat Dominican and win the first match 3-1

(30-19, 28-30, 30-18, 30-26)

One block shy of having a triple-double, Lisa Schlea played amazingly.

She dominated with 18 kills, 18 digs, and 9 solo blocks. Right behind

her in kills was Wendy Paige, who had 15. Freshman, Laurie Stuart,

served 15 straight points in game one and had 8 aces for the entire

match. Leading the Lady Warriors defensively with 19 digs was Krysten

Peek.

Dominican's offense was dominated by middle hitter, Jessica Zanotti,

who had 12 kills and outside hitter, Kinikia Collier, who finished with

11 kills. Ashley Simpson delivered 4 services aces and contributed with

3 solo blocks, but it wasn't enough to beat the Lady Warriors.

Having just played 4 hard games, Dominican had to regroup and play a

well-rested Wilmington College. Wilmington was at an advantage due to

the fact that they had just watched the entire match against Nyack. In

the first game, Dominican fought hard but the fresh legs of Wilmington

prevailed winning game one 30-24. Games two and three were controlled

by Wilmington, and they easily won 30-18 and 30-17.

Dominican's setter, Megan Earl, had a solid match with 17 assists, 14

digs and 3 service aces. Also contributing on the defensive end was

Libero, Antoinette Hackett, who had 14 digs. Outside hitter, Kinikia

Collier, led Dominican with 8 kills.

Leading Wilmington with a double double was Kristin Wiedeman, who had

13 kills and 17 digs. She also contributed with 3 aces. Kristie

Shropshire and Angie Estep played great defense; both having 15 digs

each.

Coming off a 3-0-match win, Wilmington was pretty confident going in

against Nyack in the final match of the day. Getting a break in between

matches, Nyack was feeling fresh and ready to go. Both teams came out

very strong and for the first half of the first game, the score went

back and forth. Due to mental errors the Lady Warriors lost their focus

and were unable to come alive again until the final points of the third

game. Wilmington won in 3 games with the scores being 30-19, 30-21, and

30-25.

Never giving up and willing her team on to play every point, Lisa

Schlea put up another double double: 11 kills and 10 digs. Leading

Nyack defensively was outside hitter, Krysten Peek, who had 20 digs, and

Libero, Katie Hodges with 12 digs. Setter, Tara Leegwater led with Lady

Warriors in assists with 27 sets for kills.

Controlling the match for Wilmington was Jamie Behlert who had 9

services aces and 9 digs. One of Wilmington's strongest assets,

Kristin Wiedeman, had another double double with 19 digs and 11 kills.

Wilmington finished up the day 2-0, while Nyack went 1-1, and Dominican

finished 0-2.
