Lady Chargers Volleyball Lose Two on CACC Opening Day

Blauvelt, NY (9/10/05) Dominican College had a tough opening day to the 2005 CACC volleyball season, losing two matches to Goldey-Beacom College and Post University.

In the first game against Goldey-Beacom College, the Lady Lightning posted a 3-0 victory. Sophomore Ashley Carberry (Newark, DE) led the Lady Lightning with 13 kills, while sophomore setter Danielle Hicks (Landenberg, PA) had 25 assists.

For the Lady Chargers, freshman Kinikia Collier (Garnerville, NY) led all attackers with 14 kills. Senior setter Megan Earl (Greenville, NY) led the way with 26 assists.

In the second match against Post University, both teams played tough, as the final two games were decided by two points. Post came away with the 3-0 victory, after winning the second game 31-29 and the third 33-31.

For the Eagles, junior Tadj Williams (Albany, NY) led all attackers with 22 kills, while freshman Kerry Smith (Lynbrook, NY) added17 kills. Sophomore setter Desere Obregon (Bogota, NJ) had 33 assists.

For the Lady Chargers, Collier led the way again with 10 kills. Fellow freshman Ashley Simpson (Spring Valley, NY) added 6 kills. Earl had 28 saves in the loss.

Dominican will be in action again on Saturday, September 17 as they travel to the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia for another CACC tri-match.
