SOFTBALL TAKES TWO FROM CONCORDIA COLLEGE
Bronxville, N.Y. (4/4/13) The Dominican College softball team took two games from host, Concordia College, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header this afternoon played at the Clipper Softball Field. DC won game one, 9-1 in five innings and took the nightcap, 8-7 to improve to 12-12 overall and 8-0 in conference play.

DC won game one, 9-1 in five innings and took the nightcap, 8-7 to improve to 12-12 overall and 8-0 in conference play.
Game One: The Lady Chargers plated five runs in the second inning to quickly gain a 5-0 advantage. Outfielder Shannon Haukap (Edmonds, Wash.) brought home a run as she reached on a fielder's choice and senior Julie Plante* (Swansea, Mass.) followed with a two-run double and scored on a Clipper fielding error. Kimberly Ragazzo (Lawrence, N.J.) hit a run scoring single to center field to score the fifth run of the inning.
Concordia got a run back in the bottom stanza, but Dominican put four runs on the board in the third as Plante and Delaney Childers (Johnstown, Ohio) each hit a two-run double for the 9-1 five inning win.
Plante went 4-4 with four RBIs and two runs scored in the game.
Childers got the win to improve to 7-6 on the year.
Game Two: DC took a 3-0 lead in the second as Plante hit an RBI single and a second run came home on a CC error. Right fielder Leanna Ferrick (Maybrook, N.Y.) later produced an RBI sac bunt.
The Clippers came back with a four-run fourth inning to claim their first lead of the day, 4-3, but the Lady Chargers tied the game in the fifth on the RBI single to center field off the bat of designated player, Paige Berzak (Cypress, Calif.).
Concordia regained the lead in the bottom stanza with three more runs to go ahead 7-4. Dominican posted two runs in the sixth on an error and RBI single by Childers to cut the deficit to 7-6.
In the top of the seventh inning, Ashley Corrao* (Staten Island, N.Y.) led off the inning with a double and scored as Berzak followed with an RBI single. Elizabeth Hogan (San Jose, Calif.) produced a run scoring double to lift Dominican to the 8-7 win.
Ragazzo got the win (3-4) in 4 1/3 innings of work, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits. Starter Hogan went 2 2/3 innings, allowing four runs (two earned) on eight hits.
