RAGAZZO TABBED CACC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Orangeburg, N.Y. (3/25/13) Dominican College women's softball player, Kimberly Ragazzo, has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Rookie of the Week as was announced by the conference office. Skye Boris of Wilmington University was named the CACC Player of the Week, while Courtney Dayter was named the Pitcher of the Week.

Ragazzo, a freshman infielder and pitcher from Lawrenceville, N.J., hit .500 in a 4-0 week with eight hits in 16 at bats with three runs scored two doubles and a team leading four RBIs. She posted a slugging percentage of .625 and an on- base percentage of .500 with a .960 fielding percentage.
Boris, a senior catcher and infielder, led the Wildcats with a .417 batting average in their four games this week, whilehitting the team's lone triple and home run of the week. She went 3-for-3 in game two against Dominican on Friday, hitting a double anda bases loaded triple to right. Her first home run as a Wildcat in game two against Felician on Saturday, giving the Wildcats a 2-0 lead with a solo shot in the second. Slugged .917 for the week with a team high four RBI.
Dayter opened the CACC schedule with a three-hit masterpiece as she struck out six in the Griffins 1-0, game-one, victory over Philadelphia U. She pitched the first no-hitter in Chestnut Hill history and homered during the Griffins 3-0 game-one win over Nyack. Dayter went 3-0 on the week, sporting a 0.61 ERA over 23.0 innings of work. She struck out 27 while allowing only two earned runs on nine hits and four walks.
Weekly Honor Roll
Delaney Childers, Dominican (Sr, P/OF - Johnstown, Ohio) - Hit .571 with eight hits in 14 at bats with four runs scored, one doubleand one triple. Tallied three RBI with an on-base percentage of .600 and a slugging percentage of .786.
Ciera Clark, Felician (So, 1B - Granite Bay, Calif.) - In Felician's only action of the week, went 3-for-6 with a double and a home run in a home split with Wilmington on Saturday. Slugged 1.167 in the DH. Her solo homer in Game 2 tied the game at 2-2 in an eventual 3-2 victory.
Meaghan Lewis, Philadelphia U. (Jr, 2B/C - Binghamton, N.Y.) - Was for 4-for-5 (2-for-2 2B, 2-for-3 HR, 2 RBI, run scored) against Chestnut Hill. Added 1-for-5 combined against Concordia and 2-for-6 against Bloomsburg.
CACC Softball Weekly Notes:
Bloomfield: The Lady Deacons split a doubleheader with Goldey Beacom in their only action of the week. In the doubleheader, Angie Yoshizu (Kaneohe, Hi.) went 3-7with two runs and stole five bases without being thrown out. Yoshizu has now hit safely in 13 of her 15 games this season. Krystina Poloni (Pearl River, N.Y.) belted her first two home runs of the season in game two vs. Goldey Beacom. In the same game, Toni Coleman (Port St. Lucie, Fl.) hit her first home run as a member of the Bloomfield College program in the victory. Kaila Dugger (Mesa, Az.) picked up her first CACC win on the mound since March 20, 2011, with a complete-game win against the Lightning.
Caldwell: The Cougars played one doubleheader last week and did not allow a run in a sweep of Mercy on Sunday. Senior pitcher Kourtney Wilson blanked the Mavericks on seven hits in a 3-0 victory in the first game. Freshman Amber Padilla and sophomore Hanna Walkinshaw combined to toss a two-hit shutout in a 7-0 win in the second game. Senior Dia Cascone, last week's CACC Player of the Week, hit her team-leading fourth home run in the first game. Caldwell plays CACC doubleheaders at Bloomfield, Felician and Philadelphia on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week.
Chestnut Hill: Freshman pitcher Courtney Dayter (Cohoes, N.Y.) opened up Chestnut Hill College's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule with a 3-hit masterpiece as she struck out six in the Griffins 1-0, game-one, victory over Philadelphia University on Wednesday, March 20. The Lady Rams managed to split the CACC doubleheader with a 7-5 win in game two as they scored early and often to endure the late offense of freshmen, catcher Megan Kehr (Exton, Pa.) and second baseman Julie Heaton (Berlin, N.J.). Saturday, March 23, however, was the day for freshman pitcher Courtney Dayter (Cohoes, N.Y.) as she pitched the first no-hitter in Chestnut Hill College history and homered during the Griffins 3-0 game-one win over Nyack College. Dayter also took the mound for the Griffins in game two of the CACC doubleheader with the Warrirors. She engaged the Warriors sophomore pitcher Chelsea Macaluso (Charlotte, N.C.) in a 2-2 eight-inning pitcher's duel that was settled with Dayter connecting for a sacrifice fly, 3-2 and junior left fielder Sarah Mattaliano (Coral Springs, Fla.) singling an insurance run, 4-2, in the game-deciding ninth inning.
Concordia: Concordia split their conference opening games on Saturday with a 5-4 defeat and a 4-3 win at Philadelphia. For the upcoming week, the Clippers (2-9, 1-1 CACC) are scheduled to host Nyack on Tuesday for their first home games of the season. On Friday Concordia will be on the road to battle CACC foe USciences to conclude the week.
Dominican: The Lady Chargers posted a 4-0 record last week to improve to 7-9 overall and 4-0 in conference play as they topped Wilmington University and Georgian Court University. The team had two players bat over 500 last week with four more having averages in the .400s.
Felician: Junior P/OF Tori Bradburn made her first start of the season on offense, as the DP, in Felician's 3-2 Game 2 home victory over Wilmington on Saturday. She led off the bottom of the sixth inning with a triple and scored the eventual winning run on senior OF Gina Piserchio's single. In four plate appearances this season, Bradburn has two walks, a sacrifice bunt, and a triple.
Georgian Court: GCU went 2-4 last week as the Lions were swept by the University of New Haven (3/20) and Dominican College (3/24). Georgian Court swept a road twin-bill at Post University in its CACC opener Saturday ... The Lions are scheduled to play at Chestnut Hill College (Tuesday) and Bloomsburg University (Thursday) before closing the week with two home games vs. Nyack College.
Goldey-Beacom: After playing 12 straight home games to open the season, the Lightning finally played on the road for the first time last week and split a pair of CACC contests against Bloomfield College. The Lightning won the first game by a 3-2 margin before suffering a 7-2 defeat that ended a five-game win streak. Senior pitcher Ashley Antosh extended her individual win streak to four straight games after throwing a complete game victory in the first game on Saturday; she is now 5-3 on the season. Meanwhile, junior utility player Roni Peters had a hit in both games to extend her hitting streak to four straight games. Entering this week's action, junior outfielder Michelle Foster needs just four hits to become the 11th player in school history with at least 100 career hits. The Lightning will return home this week for a
six-game homestand. After facing Millersville in a rescheduled doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon, the Lightning will host the University of the Sciences and Post in CACC doubleheaders on Thursday and Saturday, respectively.
Philadelphia: The Rams went 2-4 last week in their three home doubleheaders. Philadelphia split a pair of CACC doubleheaders against Chestnut Hill and Concordia. Against the Griffins, Philadelphia dropped game one 1-0 and came back to win the second game, 7-5. First baseman Emilia Cantrell (Pipersville, Pa.) had the gamewinning hit in the eighth to five the Rams a 5-4 win over Concordia in game one. Philadelphia was swept by Bloomsburg on Sunday. In three games, Cantrell hit 455 (5-for-11). Second baseman Meaghan Lewis (Binghamton, N.Y.) was a .438 hitter (7-for-16) with two RBIs. The Rams end their home stand against USciences (Tues.) and Caldwell (Thurs.) Philadelphia visits Millersville on Saturday.
USciences: The Devils went 1-3 on the week, splitting a CACC doubleheader with Holy Family University before being swept by Lock Haven University. Cassie Lapotsky continues to perform well on the mound, allowing just two earned runs in her two starts last week...Lapotsky struck out a career-high 10 batters vs. Lock Haven in a 2-1 8-inning loss...Haley Kavelak tied the Devils all-time record for getting hit by a pitch last week, getting hit for the 13th time in her career... The team has a big week ahead with three CACC doubleheaders. Sciences is on the road on Tuesday at Philadelphia University and Thursday and Goldey-Beacom College before returning home to take on Concordia College on Friday at McNeil Field.
Wilmington: Wilmington went 1-3 against CACC opposition this week, losing both ends of their home opener against Dominican on Friday before coming back and splitting at Felician. Katie Warrington bounced back from a loss on Friday to strike out 12 Golden Falcons in the 4-0 win to move to 7-2 on the year. Skye Boris went 3-for-3 with a double and a three run triple in game two against Dominican, leading the team with a .417 batting average on the week. She also hit her first home run as a Wildcat in game two against Felician. Brook Ash was second on the team with a .400 batting average, going 6-for-15 with a team high three runs in the four games. The Wildcats head to Holy Family on Tuesday before hosting Washington Adventist on Friday.
