LADY CHARGER SOFTBALL SWEEPS COLLEGE OF SAINT ROSE
Clermont, Fla. (3/3/13) The Lady Charger softball squad opened up the 2013 season with a sweep over the College of Saint Rose in games played this afternoon at the National Training Center. DC took game one, 3-0 and topped the Golden Knights, 9-0 in six innings in the second game. With the wins, Dominican now stands at 2-0 overall, while Saint Rose falls to 0-2 on the season.

Game One: The first game was scoreless until the fifth inning, when DC struck for all three of their runs. Delaney Childers (Johnstown, Ohio) and Paige Berzak (Cypress, Calif.) drew back-to-back two out walks and freshman first basemen Kimberly Ragazzo (Lawrence, N.J.) belted her first collegiate home run to pick up three RBIs.
Childers picked up her first shut out win of the season, scattering just three hits and striking out seven batters.
Game Two: The Lady Chargers struck for a run in the top of the first inning as senior Julie Plante* (Swansea, Mass.) led off the game with a single and Ragazzo later followed with a two out RBI double to right center field.
Dominican added two runs in the third inning as freshman Elizabeth Hogan (San Jose, Calif.) hit an RBI single and Shannon Haukap (Edmonds, Wash.) followed with an RBI single through the left side to make the score 3-0.
DC exploded for six runs in the fifth inning as Hogan picked up her second RBI with a double and senior Kathryn Coles* (Farmville, Va.) later followed with an RBI single. Coles later scored on an error and Ragazzo drew a bases loaded walk to plate the fourth run of the inning. Hogan singled in her third RBI of the contest for the 9-0 victory.
Hogan recorded her first collegiate shut out victory in five innings of work, allowing three hits and striking out six. She also led the team offensively with three hits and three RBIs.
Dominican is back in action tomorrow at the National Training Center as they will take on Young Harris College.
