New Haven, CT (4/16/12) Dominican College junior Delaney Childers has been honored as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Softball Pitcher of the Week for the third time this season, for the period ending April 16.  Dominican teammate Julie Plante was selected as the CACC Softball Player of the Week, while Caldwell's Kristen Knorr was recognized as the CACC Softball Rookie of the Week.

CACC Softball Player of the Week
Julie Plante, Dominican (Jr., SS, Swansea, Mass.)
Posted a .457 average (21-of-46) while leading the Chargers to a 10-2 week.  Posted an. 826 slugging percentage with three home runs, two triples and four doubles.  Collected her 200th hit in win over Dowling (4/15).  Enjoyed a 4-of-4, two RBI and two runs scored performance vs. Concordia (4/11) before posting another four-hit effort against Holy Family (4/14).  Totaled 11 RBI and 13 runs scored for the week.

CACC Softball Pitcher of the Week
Delaney Childers, Dominican (Jr., LHP, Johnstown, Ohio)
Went a perfect 6-0 last week while posting a 0.67 earned run average, allowing just four earned runs over 41.2 innings.  Struck out a total of 36 batters while issuing just six walks over eight games.  Tossed a total of six complete games while also hitting .429 (18-of-42) for the week.  This marks Childers' third CACC Pitcher of the Week honor in 2012.  She has also earned one CACC Player of the Week award previously this season.

CACC Softball Rookie of the Week
Kristen Knorr, Caldwell (Fr., OF, Monroeville, N.J.)
Registered a .594 (19-of-32) batting average during Cougars' 7-1 week, while recording a .969 slugging percentage with two home runs, six doubles, 12 RBI and 10 runs scored.  Recorded seven hits in two-game sweep of Georgian Court (4/15) and went 4-of-6 with two homers, a double, three runs and five RBI in a split vs. Post (4/11).

CACC Softball Honorable Mention
Katie Warrington, Wilmington (Jr., RHP, Townsend, Del.)
Went 3-0 on the mound last week with a 2.00 ERA.  Posted 33 strikeouts while issuing just four walks over 21.0 innings of work.

Carissa Trujillo, Felician (So., C/3B, Fresno, Calif.)
Posted an on-base percentage of .536 during the Golden Falcons' 5-3 week while registering a .381 (8-of-21) batting average with nine RBI and nine runs scored.

Christin Headley, Wilmington (So., SS, Georgetown, Del.)
Hit. 579 (11-of-19) for the week while slugging .895 with one home run, three doubles, six RBI and six runs scored over six games last week.  Also recorded a solid .619 on-base percentage.

Angie Yoshizu, Bloomfield (So., SS, Kaneohe, Hawaii)
Hit . 630 (17-of-27) over eight games last week, including four doubles, four RBI and five runs scored.  Collected 100th career hit vs. Chestnut Hill (4/14).

Rachel Ruch, Georgian Court (Sr., 2B, Edison, N.J.)
Posted a .500 (13-of-26) average over eight games last week with two home runs, two doubles, nine RBI and seven runs scored.  Also swiped three bases.

Giana Cavallo, Chestnut Hill (Jr., 1B, Turnersville, N.J.)
Enjoyed a tremendous week at the plate which saw her hit .571 (12-of-21) over eight games last week while launching three home runs and adding two doubles, seven RBI and six runs.

CACC Softball Notes
Bloomfield - Angie Yoshizu had multi-hit games in seven of the eight games the Deacons played last week to put up a .630 batting average for the week. With a seventh inning double against Chestnut Hill, Yoshizu became the first Deacon sophomore during the division II era to reach 100 career hits.

Caldwell - The Cougars improved to 32-9 on the season by winning seven of their eight games last week. The week included Caldwell's first regular-season sweep of Georgian Court since 2006. Freshman Kristen Knorr tallied seven hits in the two wins over the Lions and batted .594 for the week. Freshman Briana Gaspich became the fourth player in the program's history to record 50 RBI in a season, joining Kyrie Timbrook, Theresa Davison and Gina Capardi. Caldwell was ranked fifth in the first NCAA Division II East Region rankings of the season. The Cougars wrap up the regular season with games against Wilmington, C.W. Post, Dominican and Goldey-Beacom this week.

Chestnut Hill - Last inning heroics and some hustle bought Chestnut Hill College their second Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) win of the season, as freshman shortstop Brittany Hoban (Toms River, NJ) hustled home on a throwing error by the Bloomfield College second baseman to score the winning run in game two of Saturday's CACC doubleheader, 9-8.

Concordia - Concordia fell in their conference doubleheader to Dominican last week but split their two games against Goldey-Beacom on Saturday; the win snapped a nine game losing streak. The Clippers will close out their regular season this week with three doubleheaders at home. On Tuesday, Concordia will battle Felician and then Thursday USciences will visit Clipper Softball Field. Concordia will conclude their schedule on Saturday with Holy Family on Senior Appreciation Day.

Dominican - The Lady Chargers went 10-2 last week with sweeps over GBC, Concordia, Holy Family and Dowling and splits with Wilmington and Pace to improve to 30-14 overall and 21-1 in CACC. Junior Julie Plante collected her 200th career hit in game one victory over Dowling College.

Felician - Felician has won 7 of its last 10 games, all in conference action, to join the CACC playoff hunt. Sophomore 2B Halei Van Dyke hit a grand slam in each game, the second of the inside-the-park variety, in the Golden Falcons' sweep of Nyack on Wednesday. Freshman RHP Macy Chase picked up her first career win, in relief, in Game 2 vs. Nyack, then tossed her first collegiate shutout on Sunday against Chestnut Hill to complete a personal 3-2 week.

Goldey-Beacom - Currently in ninth place in the CACC standings, the Lightning posted a 2-4 record last week. After dropping a pair of games to CACC-leading Dominican on Monday afternoon, Goldey-Beacom split a pair of doubleheaders against Holy Family on Wednesday and Concordia on Saturday. Senior outfielder Cailin Cavanaugh became the fourth player in school history to hit two home runs in the same game on Wednesday when she led Goldey-Beacom to a 4-3 win over the Tigers with a pair of solo home runs. It was the first time a Goldey-Beacom player connected for two home runs in the same game since current senior Danie Rice had two home runs in a win over Lincoln in 2010. Cavanaugh and Rice also become the second and third players in school history to start at least 150 career games when they started in the second game. In addition, senior second baseman Ashley Paige played in her 100th career game on Saturday. Cavanaugh also registered her team-leading third triple of the season on Saturday, upping her career total to eight triples, which ties the school record with Holly Kimble (2003-05). Senior outfielder Shannon Graves had her streak of 14 straight stolen bases snapped when she was caught stealing in the first game against Concordia. She also swiped a base in the second game and now needs one stolen base to tie the school single-season record. Sophomore outfielder Michelle Foster also became the 12th player in school history to record 40 hits in a single season after collecting a hit in the first game on Saturday. The Lightning, which has lost five of its last seven games, will have eight games this week, including a pair of home doubleheaders. After hosting Bloomfield and Philadelphia University on Monday and Tuesday, respectively, the Lightning finishes the regular season at Chestnut Hill on Thursday and at Caldwell on Saturday.

Post - Head Coach Tracey Garofalo earned her 100th career win in the first game of a CACC doubleheader sweep at Bloomfield on Sunday. The Eagles finished the week 4-4 overall with all of their wins coming against conference foes. Post is back at .500 in conference play for the first time since March 30 after it was swept by Felician. Individually, junior Lianna May (King Ferry, N.Y.) is on a 14-game hitting streak and leads the team with 17 multi-hit games this season.

Wilmington - The Wildcats enter the final week of the season in third place after going 4-2 last week. They became the first team to knock off CACC leader Dominican with a 4-3 victory in game two. Katie Warrington struck out 11 in the complete game win while Christin Headley and Rachel Painter provided the offense with two two-run home runs in the fifth inning. Chelsea Botsch went the distance in the circle in game one against USciences to pick up her fifth win of the season en route to a Wildcats sweep. Warrington threw the nightcap, striking out a season high 13 batters for her sixth shutout of the year. Warrington went 3-0 over the course of the week, striking out 33 batters in 21 innings. Headley batted .579 (11-for-19) with three doubles, a home run, six RBI's and six runs scored. Brooke Berger batted .474 (9-for-19) with a triple, her first home run of the season and six runs scored. Painter finished 7-for-15 with two doubles, a home run, four RBI's and two runs scored. Wilmington finishes the season with eight games this week, starting with second place Caldwell on Monday. The Wildcats will head to Chestnut Hill on Tuesday, fourth place Georgian Court on Thursday and finish with Nyack on Saturday.
