SOFTBALL STAYS UNDEFEATED IN CONFERENCE PLAY WITH SWEEP OVER GOLDEY-BEACOM COLLEGE

Wilmington, DE (4/9/12)  The Dominican College softball team improved to 22-12 and stayed undefeated at 16-0 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play after sweepng host, Goldey-Beacom College, this afternoon in games played at the Jackson Athletic Complex.  Dominican took game one, 11-1 in six innings and won the second game, 10-1 in five innings.

Game One:  Dominican trailed 1-0 after one inning when the team answered back with a four-run second inning.  Brielle Kerscher (Staten Island, NY) and Julie Plante* (Swansea, MA) both had run scoring singles, while senior Deidre Jeppson* (Sylmar, CA) hit a two-run double to left field to put the Lady Chargers ahead 4-1.

Dominican scored in each of the remaining four innings for the 11-1 victory.  DC pounded out 15 hits in the game, while five Lady Chargers collected two hits a-piece.

Paige Berzak (Cypress, CA) went 3-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored.

Delaney Childers (Johnstown, OH) improved to 13-6 in the win, allowing one run on six hits and four strikeouts.

Game Two:  Once again Dominican trailed 1-0 after one inning, but the offense came alive again in the second inning as they scored seven runs to go ahead 7-1.  DC added two runs in the third and one in the fifth for the 10-1 five inning victory.

The Lady Chargers collected nine hits in game two with Plante and Jeppson each getting two hits.

Katrina Pistilli* (Staten Island, NY) pitched five innings, allowing one run on five hits and collectining four strikeouts to improve to 7-6 on the season.

Dominican is scheduled to be back on the field tomorrow afternoon as they host Wilmington University.
