Rutherford, NY (3/20/12) The Dominican College softball team improved to 10-8 overall and 4-0 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play after defeating host, Felician College, 3-0 and 9-3, this afternoon in games played at Matera Field.

Game One: The Lady Chargers wasted no time as they scored a run in the first inning on a bases loaded walk to junior catcher Ashley Corrao (Staten Island, NY). DC added a run in the fourth on the infield RBI single hit by Brielle Kerscher (Staten Island, NY) and another one in the fifth on the RBI sacrifice fly ball of the bat of Shelby Wassmann (Loudoun, VA) for the eventual 3-0 victory.
Kerscher finished the game going 2-3.
CACC Pitcher of the Week, Delaney Childers (Johnstown, OH), improved to 7-4 with the complete game shutout, allowing just two hits and recording nine strikeouts.
Game Two: Dominican put five runs on the board in the first inning as Childers tripled home a run down the left field line and Corrao later followed with a second RBI double for a 2-0 lead. An RBI single up-the-middle by Kerscher gave Dominican a 3-0 lead and left fielder Victoria LaPorte (Wasingtonville, NY) followed with a two-run single up-the-middle to make the score 5-0.
DC added two runs in the second inning with the runs scoring on a fielding error to take a 7-0 lead but Felician got on the board in the bottom stanza with two runs to make the score 7-2. FC added a run in the fourth to cut the lead to 7-3, but Dominican added two runs in the fifth on an RBI triple by LaPorte and a sacrifice fly ball by Childers for the eventual 9-3 win.
Katrina Pistilli (Staten Island, NY) picked up the complete game win to improve to 3-4 on the season, allowing three runs (two earned) on eight hits and eight strikeouts.
DC is back in action on Friday when they travel to Post University in CACC action.
