SOFTBALL EARNS SPLIT WITH C.W. POST
Brookville, NY (3/15/12) The Dominican College softball team improved to 6-8 overall after earning a non-conference split with host, C.W. Post University this afternoon in games played at the Softball Complex. Dominican took game one, 6-1, but fell in game two, 2-0.
Brookville, NY (3/15/12) The Dominican College softball team improved to 6-8 overall after earning a non-conference split with host, C.W. Post University this afternoon in games played at the Softball Complex. Dominican took game one, 6-1, but fell in game two, 2-0.
Game One: The Lady Chargers opened game one with a three run first inning as outfielder Shelby Wassmann (Loudoun, VA) hit a two-run single to center field. Kathryn Coles (Farmville, VA) later followed with a single up-the-middle to score the third run.
DC took a 4-0 lead in the second inning as Wassmann walked with the bases loaded to tally her third RBI of the game. A Paige Berzak (Cypress, CA) double in the sixth produced the Lady Chargers fifth run of the game and Brielle Kerscher (Staten Island, NY) hit a double in the seventh to score a run and put Dominican ahead 6-0. C.W. Post scored their lone run of the game in the bottom of the seventh for the 6-1 score.
Delaney Childers (Johnstown, OH) got the complete game win (5-4), allowing one run (none earned) on seven hits and four strikeouts.
Game Two: Game two was scoreless until the Pioneers struck for two runs in the bottom of the fifth for the 2-0 victory.
Katrina Pistilli* (Staten Island, NY) suffered the loss (1-4), allowing two runs on seven hits and four strikeouts.
Dominican returns to action on Sunday when they open up Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play as they host Georgian Court University. Game time is set for 1pm on the DC Softball Field.
