SOFTBALL EXTENDS WINNING STREAK TO FIVE WITH SWEEP OVER BLOOMFIELD COLLEGE
Orangeburg, NY (4/8/10) The Dominican College softball squad extended their winning streak to five straight games after sweeping Bloomfield College, 2-0 and 8-0 in five innings, this afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action at the DC Softball Field.

In game one the Lady Chargers scored both runs in the bottom of the first inning as Julie Plante (Swansea, MA) led off the inning with a bunt single and moved to third on the double by Delaney Childers (Johnstown, OH). A one out ground-out by catcher Nicole Scarillo (South Amboy, NJ) brought in plante and a fielding error on a ball hit by Deidre Jeppson (Sylmar, CA) platted Childers and gave DC the 2-0 lead and eventual victory.
Childers picked up the complete game shut-out win (10-4), allowing just two hits and striking out five Deacon batters.
The Lady Chargers struck again in game two with a run in the first inning, taking advantage on a Deacon error which allowed a run to score and put DC up 1-0.
DC exploded for six runs in the second inning, highlighted by a two-out grand slam blast by senior Cara Piasecki (Port Monmouth, NJ). The first two runs of the inning came off RBI singles by Plante and Childers to extend the lead to 7-0.
Dominican ended the game in the fifth with their eighth run of the game as Ashley Martinez (Bloomfield, NJ) led off the inning with a double, moved to third on the single by Ashley Corrao (Staten Island, NY) and scored on the RBI single by Danielle Garrison (Coatesville, PA) for the 8-0 victory in five innings.
Childers tallied her second victory of the day to improve to 11-4, scattering just three hits.
With the sweep Dominican improves to 17-9 overall and 9-1 in the CACC.
