Orangeburg, NY (5/4/09)  The Dominican College softball team received the first bid in program history to the NCAA East Regional Tournament which will take place this weekend (May 8-10.  Dominican will travel to Syracuse, NY and take on the top-seeded host, Le Moyne College, on Friday.

The Lady Chargers earned an at-large bid to the regionals after compiling a 39-14 record this season.  DC was the top seed at last weekend's CACC Tournament, but fell to eventual champions,#4 Georgian Court University and #6 Philadelphia University to be eliminated from the tournament.

The East Regional Tournament will be broken down into two sites of competition, where four teams will participate in the double-elimination tournament.  Winners will advance to the Super Regionals which will be held on May 15-16th and the finals will be held May 21-25 in Salem, Virginia at the James I. Moyer Sports Complex.

This is the program's first ever NCAA bid since becoming a member of the NCAA Division II.
