# 8 LADY CHARGERS SOFTBALL EARN CACC TOURNAMENT TOP SEED WITH VICTORY OVER CALDWELL COLLEGE

Caldwell, NJ (4/27/09)  The Dominican College softball team, ranked eighth in the NCAA East Region, secured the regular season Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship and the top seed in the upcoming CACC Tournament after defeating host Caldwell College, 2-0 this afternoon at the Caldwell College Softball Field.

Dominican scored their first run in the third inning on an RBI single up the middle by shortstop Cara Piasecki (Port Monmouth, NJ) to plate Deidre Jeppson (Sylmar, CA) who had a one out single to center field.

The Lady Chargers would score an insurance run in the top of the seventh as Lauren Galladay (Aberdeen, NJ) led off the inning with a double to right center field.  Freshman Ashley Martinez (Bloomfield, NJ) pinch ran for Galladay and moved to third on sacrifice bunt by Jessica Martinieri (Tampa, FL) and came in to score on the fielder's choice sacrifice bunt by Jeppson for the 2-0 DC victory.

Freshman Katrina Pistilli (Staten Island, NY) picked up the shutout victory to improve to 18-5 on the year, allowing nine hits and striking out five.

Jeppson, Piasecki and senior Jamie Ollari (Hopatcong, NJ) all collected two hits a piece in the game.

With the victory the Lady Chargers improve to 36-12 overall and 22-2 in the CACC and extend their winning streak to 17 straight games.

Dominican will be the #1 seed in the upcoming CACC Tournament which begins this Thursday at Georgian Court University.
