LADY CHARGERS SOFTBALL SWEEP TWINBILL FROM REGIONAL RANKED BLOOMFIELD COLLEGE
Orangeburg, NY (4/17/09) The Dominican College softball squad swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header from regionally ranked Bloomfield College this afternoon. DC won the first game, 7-0 and took the nightcap, 15-0.
Orangeburg, NY (4/17/09) The Dominican College softball squad swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header from regionally ranked Bloomfield College this afternoon. DC won the first game, 7-0 and took the nightcap, 14-0.
In game one DC put a run on the board in the second inning on a solo home run by catcher Nicole Scarillo (South Amboy, NJ). Dominican added six runs in the fifth as senior Sarah Beck (Milton, NY) had an RBI double, followed by a two-run single by first basemen Jamie Ollari (Hopatcong, NJ). An RBI single by Jessica Martinieri (Tampak FL) brought in a run and a bases loaded walk brought in the fifth Lady Charger run of the inning. A Deacon error led freshman Deidre Jeppson (Sylmar, CA) to score and give Dominican the 7-0 victory.
Freshman Katrina Pistilli (Staten Island, NY) improved to 11-5 with the complete game victory, allowing just one hit and striking out three batters.
In game two, the Lady Chargers charged ahead with a five run first inning as Jeppson scored on the RBI single by Beck and a BC error led to the second run of the inning. An RBI single by Danielle Garrison (Coatesville, PA) and an RBI double by Lauren Galladay (Aberdeen, NJ) put DC ahead 5-0.
Dominican added a run in the third on an error and scored four runs in both the fourth and fifth innings to extend to a 14-0 victory. Ollari had an RBI double in the fourth, while Daniellle Garrison had an RBI single, followed by a two-run blast by Galladay. In the fifth, Ollari had an RBI single, followed by an RBI single by Galdladay. An RBI fielder's choice by Ollari platted a run and run scored on a fielder's choice hit by freshman Danielle Lotti (South Attleboro, M) and RBI single by Kelli Rehm (Livingston, NJ) as DC cruised to the 14-0 victory in game two.
Garrison picked up the shut out win in game two to improve to 8-3 on the year, allowing just one hit and eight strikeouts.
With the victories Dominican improves to 23-12 overall and 9-2 in the CACC.
