SOFTBALL SPLITS ON DAY THREE AT NATIONAL TRAINING CENTER GAMES
Clermont, FL (3/13/09) The Lady Chargers softball team split a non-conference double-header with Assumption College this afternoon at the National Training Center Games. DC took the first game, 2-1 and lost the night cap, 1-2.

The Lady Chargers struck early in game one with two runs as Deidre Jeppson (Sylmar, CA) and Nicole Philpot (Dingmans Ferry, PA) led off the inning with back to back singles. After being sacrificed over by Jamie Ollari (Hopatcong, NJ), both runners scored on a single by senior Sarah Beck (Milton, NY).
Freshman Katrina Pistilli (Staten Island, NY) improved to 2-2 on the season in the complete game win, allowing just one run on five hits and five strikeouts.
In game two, Assumption got back to back runs in the second and third innings for the 2-1 victory.
The lone Dominican run game in the bottom of the second as Danielle Garrison (Coatesville, PA) led off the inning with a single and later scored on the double by junior Jessica Martinieri (Tampa, FL).
Junior Laurie Edwards (Riverhead, NY) suffered the complete game loss, allowing two runs on seven hits and four strikeouts.
With the split the Lady Chargers improve to 2-3 overall.
DC is back in action at the National Training Center Games tomorrow when they take on Southern Connecticut State University at 1pm and Franklin Pierce University at 5pm.
