BURBRIDGE NAMED DOMINICAN COLLEGE HEAD SOFTBALL COACH
Orangeburg, NY (6/17/08) Dominican College Director of Athletics, Joseph Clinton, has announced the hiring of Joe Burbridge as the Lady Chargers Head Softball Coach. Burbridge spent last season as the interim coach after the resignation of Rick Krasny.
"We are very happy to have Joe come on board as the new softball coach," Clinton said. "He did a great job with the team this season and we are excited to see where he can take the program in the future."
Burbridge, who resides in Mahwah, NJ, was named interim head coach in February when Krasny resigned due to a new job position. Burbridge led the Lady Chargers to a 30-24 overall record and an 18-4 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) this season. The team finished in third place in the CACC and swept a non-conference double-header from the eventual CACC Champions, Caldwell College. DC went into the CACC Tournament with the third place seed and lost in the semi-finals to Holy Family University.
He returned to Dominican last season as an assistant after spending one year at the helm of the Adelphi University Softball Program. He finished the year with a record of 39-19, setting a school record for most wins and winning the East Coast Conference (ECC) Regular Season Title. The Panthers earned a berth in the NCAA Tournament and was ranked as high as 8th in the country in the 2007 season.
