Philadelphia, PA (4/25/07)  The Dominican College Lady Chargers softball squad swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double header from host Holy Family University this afternoon.

In game one, Dominican took advantage of two Tiger errors to score five unearned runs en route to the victory. The Chargers got their first run in the top half of the first as first baseman Kristine Knuth (Staten Island, NY) scored on a throwing error for a 1-0 lead.

Dominican tacked on three runs in the top half of the third on a three-run home run from centerfielder Jamie Ollari (Hopatcong, NJ), her seventh home run of the season.

The Chargers would plate four more runs in the top half of the seventh as catcher Sarah Beck  (Milton, NY) had a two-run double, followed by a home run from left fielder Michelle Krupna (Sparta, NJ). All four runs were unearned due to a Tiger throwing error on a fielder’s choice earlier in the inning.

Charger starting pitcher Laurie Edwards (Riverhead, NY) improved to 2-2 on the season with a complete-game four hitter. Holy Family stranded eight runners on base in the game, including five in scoring position.

Jody Searfoss (Weatherly, PA) fell to 10-8 in taking the loss. She struck out three, and walked three.

In game two, Dominican struck first with one run in the top of the second on a RBI single from Knuth. The Chargers again were aided by a Tiger throwing error, one of five errors for Holy Family in the second game.

Holy Family struck back in the bottom of the second as starting pitcher Dolores Brown (Croydon, PA) belted her fourth home run of the season to lead off the inning.

The Tigers took a 2-1 lead after three innings as Brown again helped her own cause with a RBI single that scored second baseman Sarah Marsteller (Rising Sun, MD).

Dominican broke the game open over the next three innings by scoring nine runs, including a six-spot in the top of the fifth for a 9-2 lead. Knuth had a RBI double in the fourth, while Ollari would add in a RBI single.

In the fifth, pinch hitter Lauren Galladay (Aberdeen, NJ) had a two-run single, while Knuth picked up another RBI hit. Ollari finished the inning off with a three-run single.

In the sixth, catcher Beck had a solo home run for a 10-2 Charger lead.

In the bottom of the inning, Holy Family avoided an early ending with a run a Charger fielding error that allowed pinch runner Nathalia Villalta (Philadelphia, PA) to score.

Holy Family added one more run in the seventh on a RBI by shortstop Kristilyn Obert (/Levittown, PA).
