Dominican Softball Sweeps University of the Sciences In Philadelphia
Philadelphia, PA (4/29/06) The Lady Charger softball team improved to 33-15 overall and 13-7 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) with a sweep over the University of the Sciences In Philadelphia.
In game one, the Chargers took a 1-0 lead in the first, added a run in the third and tacked on two more in the fifth for the 4-1 victory.
Senior Katie Farrugia (Cornwall, NY) went 2-3 in the game with a double and two RBIs. Christine Stathes (Cornwall, NY) went 1-3 with a double and Kristine Knuth (Staten Island, NY) went 1-4 with a triple and two runs scored.
Michelle Bark (West Milford, NJ) improved to 11-5 with the complete game victory, scattering four hits and striking out six hitters.
In the second game, DC got on the board in the third inning, added four runs in the fourth and two more in the sixth for a 7-2 win.
Knuth went 3-4 with one RBI and two runs scored, while Stathes went 3-3 with a triple and an RBI. Sarah Beck (Milton, NY) also went 3-3 with a run scored and three RBIs. Jackie Terpstra (Middletown, NY) went 2-4 with a run scored in the and Farrugia added a double in the win.
Krupna got the win to improve to 10-6,
going four innings and striking out
five. Stathes pitched three innings of
relief, scattering four hits.
