Nyack, NY (4/10/06) The Dominican College softball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double header with rival Nyack College this afternoon in Nyack. The Warriors won the first game 2-1, while the Lady Chargers rallied to take the second game 9-2.

Nyack, NY (4/10/06) The Dominican College softball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double header with rival Nyack College this afternoon in Nyack. The Warriors won the first game 2-1, while the Lady Chargers rallied to take the second game 9-2.
Dominican took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning, but Nyack rallied in the bottom half of the fourth to take a 2-1 lead.
Catcher Sarah Beck (Milton, NY) led the Lady Chargers in the first game with two hits. Freshman Melanie Hestermann (Lacey Township, NJ) had an RBI with a sacrificie fly.
Lady Charger Michelle Krupna (Sparta, NJ) took the loss, going six innings and striking out 12 batters.
In the night cap, the Lady Chargers held a 3-2 lead after three innings, but added to the lead with a four run fourth inning to take a 7-2 lead. The team added runs in the sixth and seventh for the final 9-2 victory.
Lead off hitter Kristine Knuth (Staten Island, NY) went 2-2, including a grand slam in the fourth, with two runs scored a season high five RBIs. Krupna went 2-3 with one RBI and two runs scored. Third basemen Jackie Terpstra (Middletown, NY) had two hits on the day as well.
Pitcher Christine Stathes (Cornwall, NY) improved to 9-2 on the year in the complete game win, allowing just three hits and striking out four Warriors.
Dominican is back in action tomorrow afternoon when they host Post University at 3:30 pm.
