Dominican Softball Sweeps Felician College in CACC Double Header
Rutherford, NJ (4/4/06) The regionally ranked Dominican College softball team swept a Central Alantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double header from Felician College this afternoon. The Lady Chargers took the first game 4-1 and won the night cap, 2-1 to improve to 21-9 overall and 6-4 in the CACC.

Rutherford, NJ (4/4/06) The regionally ranked Dominican College softball team swept a Central Alantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double header from Felician College this afternoon. The Lady Chargers took the first game 4-1 and won the night cap, 2-1 to improve to 21-9 overall and 6-4 in the CACC.
Dominican took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning as sophomore Kristine Knuth (Staten Island, NY) led off the game with a triple followed by a double by freshman Jamie Ollari (Hopatcong, NJ). The Lady Chargers added to the lead in the third as Knuth got a one single and later stole second to move into scoring position for senior Katie Farrugia (Cornwall, NY) who came through with an RBI double to give DC a 2-0 lead.
The Lady Chargers added another run in the sixth as sophomore Jackie Terpstra (Middletown, NY) scored on a wild pitch, giving the team a 3-0 lead. Felician fought back in the bottom stanza as Brittany Steiner (Edison, NJ) homered to put the Golden Falcons on the board, trailing 3-1.
DC scored the final run of the game as Ollari singled to led off the inning and later scored on the sacrifice fly by freshman Melanie Hestermann (Lacey Township, NJ).
Starter Michelle Krupna (Sparta, NJ) got the win, allowing five hits and getting four strike outs in her seventh win of the season.
In the night cap, both teams were held scoreless through 3 1/2 innings, but Felician got on the board in the bottom of the fourth as Steiner got a one out single and scored on the RBI double by Jenna Krowl (Kearny, NJ) to give the team their first lead of the day at 1-0.
Dominican fought back with a run in the top of the fifth as Hestermann singled to led off the inning and later scored on the RBI single by Krupna to tie the game at 1-1.
In the top of the eighth, Ollari reached base on a Felician error, advanced to second on a ground out by Farrugia and scored on the RBI double by Sarah Beck (Milton, NY) for the game winning run as the Lady Chargers won the game 2-1.
Junior Michelle Bark (West Milford, NJ) picked up her sixth win of the season, pitching a complete game, allowing five hits and striking out seven.
Dominican is back in action tomorrow afternoon when they nost Pac University in a non-conference double header, starting at 3pm.
