HEAD MEN'S SOCCER COACH JOHN CAMPBELL ANNOUNCES RESIGNATION
Orangeburg, NY (1/26/12) John Campbell, who currently serves as assistant director of athletics and head men's soccer coach at Dominican College, has announced his resignation effective as of February 11th. Campbell will be relocating to Florence, South Carolina, where he has accepted the position of head men's soccer coach at Francis Marion University.

Campbell will be relocating to Florence, South Carolina, where he has accepted the position of head men's soccer coach at Francis Marion University.
"This was an extremely difficult decision on a personal level. I have been fortunate over the past seven years to have coached amazing and talented young men," said Campbell. "It has been my honor to have worked with them and have cultivated many life-long friendships in my time here."
Campbell, will leave Dominican after seven very successful seasons which included numerous NCAA East Regional Tournament appearances.
During his first season at the helm of the Chargers, Campbell guided the team to their first ever NCAA Tournament, was ranked first in their region and finished the season with an 18-2 record. The team also was ranked 11th in the NCAA Division II rankings. He was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) and the New England Regional Coach of the Year.
The team made their second consecutive NCAA East Regional appearance in 2006 and made back-to-back appearances in 2009 and 2010.
"John has been instrumental in the success of the men's soccer program over the past seven years," said Director of Athletics, Joe Clinton. "He brought the program to the next level and we wish him all the best in his future endeavors."
Campbell's career at Dominican includes three Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Regular Season Championships, three CACC Tournament Titles, four NCAA East Regional Tournament berths, two CACC Coach of the Year honors and a National Soccer Coach's Association of America (NSCAA) New England Region Coach of The Year. He leaves Dominican with a career coaching record of 86-27-20.
"I would like to thank Sister Mary Eileen O'Brien, Sister Kathleen Sullivan and Joe Clinton for the opportunity to coach the men's soccer program and be a part of the Dominican College family" Campbell said. "It is truly the people who make Dominican a special place."
His duties as an assistant director of athletics included the areas of compliance, game management and director of summer camps.
A search will begin for a new head coach immediately. The role of Compliance Officer will be filled by assistant director of athletics, Tom Gavigan. Gavigan has been with Dominican College for three years and has served as the Assistant Compliance Officer.
