CHARGERS SOCCER BLANK GOLDEY-BEACOM COLLEGE

Wilmington, DE (10/1/11)  The Dominican College men's soccer team blanked host, Goldey-Beacom College, 3-0 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game played this afternoon.  Following the win, Dominican improves to 4-3-2 overall and 3-2-1 in the CACC, while the Lightning fall to 0-6 overall and 0-4 in conference play.

The first goal of the game came in the 21st minute when sophomore midfielder Manuel Valencia (New Rochelle, NY) netted a goal at the 21:10 mark off the assist from Jorge Zubillaga (Uruguay) for the 1-0 lead.

DC added to the lead in the 53rd minute of play when senior midfielder Alan Heavey (Huntington Station, NY) got the cross from Pedro Franklin De Araujo (Campinas-SP, Brazil) who then headed the ball into the goal to give the team a two goal lead, 2-0.

Almost four minute later, freshman forward Clodalain Lolo (Stony Point, NY) struck for a goal from 25 yards out with a shot into the upper right corner of the net for the 3-0 victory.

The Chargers outshot the Lightning, 14-3 and held a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Goalie Brandon Heembrock* (Ottawa, Canada) made one save in the loss.

Dominican is back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Wilmington University in a conference game slated to begin at 3:30 pm.
