MEN'S SOCCER TOPS MOLLOY COLLEGE

Rockville Centre, NY (9/9/11) The Dominican College men's soccer team won their first game of the 2011 season as they topped non-conference opponent, Molloy College, 2-1 this afternoon in a game played at Dean Skelos Complex. With the win, Dominican improves to 1-1-1 on the season, while Molloy falls to 0-4 on the year.

Rockville Centre, NY (9/9/11)  The Dominican College men's soccer team won their first game of the 2011 season as they topped non-conference opponent, Molloy College, 2-1 this afternoon in a game played at Dean Skelos Complex.  With the win, Dominican improves to 1-1-1 on the season, while Molloy falls to 0-4 on the year.

Dominican took a 1-0 lead in the 21st minute as freshman midfielder Christopher Walsh (Baldwin, NY) netted the first goal of his collegiate career after the goalie deflected a shot and Walsh headed it into the net.

Molloy tied the game almost seven minutes later for a 1-1 score after one half of play.

The game winning goal came in the 40th minute of action as senior midfielder Alan Heavey (Huntington Station, NY) scored his first goal of the season off the assist from Alex Rodier (Williamstown, NJ) as he put a shot past the Lion keeper for the 2-1 victory.

Senior keeper Brandon Heembrock (Ottawa, Canada) made seven saves in the victory.

The Chargers are back in action on Sunday when they take on C.W. Post in a non-confernce game that will take place at Molloy College at 2:30 pm.
