# 3 MEN'S SOCCER ADVANCES TO CACC SEMI-FINALS IN SHOOTOUT
Orangeburg, NY (11/2/10) The third-seeded Dominican College men's soccer team advanced to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament Semi-Finals by winning a shootout, 3-1, over the sixth-seeded Warriors of Nyack College this afternoon in a quarter-final matchup on the DC Soccer Field.
Orangeburg, NY (11/2/10) The third-seeded Dominican College men's soccer team advanced to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament Semi-Finals by winning a shootout, 3-1, over the sixth-seeded Warriors of Nyack College this afternoon in a quarter-final matchup on the DC Soccer Field.
Both teams had scoring opportunities during regulation with 37 total shots taken as Dominican held a 20-17 advantage in shots.
After 110:00 minutes of action and scoring remaining 0-0, the game went into the decisive shootout.
Dominican took the first shot as sophomore forward Alex Rodier (Williamstown, NJ) was able to convert the kick to give DC a 1-0 advantage.
Nyack's first shot was taken by junior Martin Narvaez (Sydney, Australia) who matched Rodier's shot and tied the shootout at 1-1.
Sophomore midfielder Pedro Franklin De Araujo (Capinas-SP, Brazil) was up next for the Chargers and the Warrior keeper made a great save to keep the shootout at 1-1.
Nyack's next shooter Babajide Fatoba (Lagos, Nigeria) was unable to convert the kick, while DC's third shot by the CACC Rookie of the Year, Sony Narro (Stamford, CT), went into the left bottom corner of the net to give the Chargers a 2-1 edge.
After Nyack's third shot that hit the post, Dominican rookie Jorge Zubillaga (Uruguay) was able to convert his kick to put Dominican up 3-1. The next Nyack shot went high over the goal to allow the Chargers to advance on penalty kicks, 3-1.
Charger keeper Brandon Heembrock (Ottawa, Canada) made five saves in the game, while Warrior goalie Adrian Ibanez (Ontario, Canada) had nine saves.
As the game goes down as a tie, Dominican now stands at 12-3-3 overall and will face the #2 Philadelphia University Rams at 1:30 pm on Thursday in a CACC Semi-Final game to be played at Georgian Court University.
