RODIER NAMED CACC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Orangeburg, NY (10/4/10) Dominican College men's soccer player, Alex Rodier, has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, October 3rd. Mosiah Whyte of Caldwell College was tabbed Rookie of the Week.
Orangeburg, NY (10/4/10) Dominican College men's soccer player, Alex Rodier, has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, October 3rd. Mosiah Whyte of Caldwell College was tabbed Rookie of the Week.
Rodier, a sophomore forward who hails from Williamstown, N.J., led Dominican to a 2-0 week with two goals and one assist. He scored a pair of goals in a win over Nyack and dished out the assist on the second goal in a 2-0 triumph over Chestnut Hill.
Whyte, a 5-6 freshman forward from Coram, N.Y., registered two goals in a 2-0 week for the Cougars, scoring single goals in victories over Queens and Holy Family.
Honorable Mention
Adam Miller, Philadelphia (So., M, Swainton, NJ) - Provided the game's lone goal in a 1-0 victory against Post.
Ignacio Farias, Goldey-Beacom (So., GK, Maracay, Venezuela) - Recorded 14 saves in a shutout over Washington Adventist.
Team Notes
Bloomfield - The Deacons achieved a major milestone this week, earning their first-ever ranking in the NSCAA National Poll. Bloomfield is currently ranked 25th in the nation, and fourth in the East Region.
Caldwell - The Cougars won back-to-back games for the first time this season, beating Queens 4-2 on Tuesday before blanking Holy Family 3-0 on Saturday. Senior Rob Arena, sophomore Chris Skarbelis and freshmen Kristopher Bistre and Mosiah Whyte scored goals against Queens. Junior Kieran Bisland, freshman Brendan Hughes and Whyte found the net against Holy Family to help Caldwell pick up its second CACC victory of the season. Junior goalkeeper John Londono made five saves for his second shutout of the year. The Cougars face Nyack and Post on the road this week.
Philadelphia - The Rams went 1-1 this week, improving their CACC record to 5-1. The squad hosts Millersville on Wednesday (10/6) before traveling to Concordia for their only conference game of the week on Saturday (10/9).
Post - This week the Eagles took two tough one-goal road losses to Bridgeport and Philadelphia. The Bridgeport loss was in overtime, while Philadelphia scored the game-winning goal with less than five minutes left in the contest. Up next, Post is at Concordia on Tuesday and Caldwell will travel to Waterbury on Saturday.
