THREE MEN'S SOCCER PLAYERS NAMED ECAC ALL-STARS

Orangeburg, NY (12/3/09)  Three Dominican College men's soccer players have been named 2009 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division II All-Stars as was announced by the ECAC yesterday.  Senior Joe Wright and sophomore Brandon Heembrock were named to the First Team, while junior Clifton Huxtable was named to the Second Team.

Wright, a senior forward from Stratford-Upon-Avon, England, led the team and ranked second in the CACC with 16 goals on the year.  He also leads the team and ranks second in the conference in points (38), third in the CACC points per game (2.00) and goals per game (0.84).  He led the team with 67 shots this season and ranked fourth in the CACC, while being ranked second in the conference with five game-winning goals.  Wright's recently earned his third consecutive appearance on the All-CACC First Team and his third appearance on the Daktronics East Region Second Team.

Huxtable, a junior defender who hails from Toronto, Ontario, has started all 19 games this season.  He is a crucial part of a Charger defense that has allowed just 16 goals all season and has helped the team record six shutouts this year.  He recently earned his first appearance on the All-CACC First Team and Daktronics East Region Second Team honors.

Heembrock, a sophomore keeper from Ottawa, Canada, has started all 19 games in the net this season.  He led the conference in save percentage (.869) and shutouts (6) and finished second in goals against average (0.82).  He ranked third in saves (106) and fourth in saves per game (5.58).  He was named to the All-CACC First Team this season after earning All-CACC Second Team honors in 2008 and was named to the Daktronics East Region Second Team.

colleges and universities from Maine to North Carolina and westerly to Illinois. Established in 1938, the ECAC, a non-profit service
organization, sponsors nearly 100 championships in 37 men’s and women’s sports, assigns more than 4,400 officials in 12 sports,
administers nine affiliate sports organizations and six playing leagues and recognizes more than 2,000 student-athletes through the public relations arm of the conference. The ECAC serves as the primary conference for select members in the sports of men’s and women’s ice hockey, and men’s lacrosse.
