MEN'S SOCCER EARN BID TO NCAA EAST REGIONAL

Indianapolis, IN (11/9/09) The Dominican College men's soccer team has been selected as the fourth seed in the upcoming NCAA East Regional Tournament being hosted by the top seeded Le Moyne College Dolphins. This will be the program's third appearance in an NCAA Regional Tournament.
The Chargers (13-3-2) will square off in first round action against the fifth seeded Ravens of Franklin Pierce University of Friday, November 13th at the Thomas J. Neiland Athletic Complex. The winner will take on the top-seeded Dolphins on Sunday, November 15th in the regional semi-finals.
The bottom half of the bracket will be hosted by the third seeded Penman of Southern New Hampshire University. The Penman will take on the sixth-seeded Owls of Southern Connecticut State University in a first round game on Thursday, November 12th. The winner will face fellow Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) member and second seed, Wilmington University in a semi-final match up on Saturday, November 14th.
The Regional final between the winner of the Manchester Regional and the Syracuse Regional will take place on November 21 or 22, with the winner advancing to the NCAA semifinals. The semifinals and final will be played on December 3 and 5 at the University of Tampa in Tampa, Florida.
Dominican has been ranked regionally and nationally for most of the 2009 season and finished in second place in the CACC. The team is led by three-time All- CACC First Team selection, forward Joe Wright (Stratford-Upon-Avon, England). Wright,a senior, leads the team and is ranked second in the CACC with 15 goals on the year. He also leads the team and ranks second in the conference in points (34), points per game (2.12) and goals per game (0.94). Sophomore keeper Brandon Heembrock (Ottawa, Canada), a two-time All-CACC selection, has started all 16 games in the net this season. He leads the conference in goals against average (0.79), save percentage (.875) and shutouts (6). He ranks third in saves (91) and fifth in saves percentage (5.69). Anchoring the Charger defense is junior Clifton Huxtable (Toronto, Canada). The midfield features core players James Hamilton, a senior from Paisley, Scotland and sophomores Alan Heavey (Huntington Station, NY) and John Langdon (Bellport, NY).
