MEN'S SOCCER DEFEATS CONCORDIA COLLEGE
Orangeburg, NY (9/16/09) The Dominican College men's soccer team, ranked 17th nationally and 2nd regionally in the latest NCAA/NSCAA Rankings, defeated the visiting Clippers of Concordia College, 3-1 this afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) soccer action at the DC Soccer Field.
Orangeburg, NY (9/16/09) The Dominican College men's soccer team, ranked 17th nationally and 2nd regionally in the latest NCAA/NSCAA Rankings, defeated the visiting Clippers of Concordia College, 3-1 this afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) soccer action at the DC Soccer Field.
Senior forward Joe Wright (Stratford-Upon-Avon, England) tallied his team leading seventh goal of the season at 11:52 off the corner kick pass from Diego Barahona (Stamford, CT). DC took a 2-0 lead in the 22nd minute of action as sophomore midfielder John Langdon (Bellport, NY) scored his first goal of the season off the double dish from Pedro De Araujo (Capinas-SP, Brazil) and sophomore Alan Heavey (Huntington Station, NY).
The Clippers got on the board in the 66th minute of play as freshman forward Alessandro Persampieri (Tuckahoe, NY) netted a goal off the pass from Xhovano Dardha (Detroit, MI) to cut the Charger lead to 2-1.
Dominican regained a two goal advantage at 69:22 when freshman forward Alex MacDonald (High Wycombe, England) netted his first collegiate goal off a nice pass from Wright to lead the Chargers to the 3-1 victory.
Charger goalie Brandon Heembrock (Ottawa, Canada) made two saves in the win.
Clipper keeper Will Camerlingo (Blairstown, NJ) had one save in the loss.
With the victory Dominican improves to 5-0-2 overall and 1-0-1 in the CACC, while Concordia falls to 0-5 overall and 0-1 in the CACC.
Dominican is back in action on Saturday when they travel to Goldey-Beacom College in CACC action. Game time is set for 3pm.
