North Andover, MA (9/6/09) The Dominican College men's soccer team netted three unanswered goals in the second half to defeat Merrimack College, 3-1 this afternoon in the finale of the 2009 Merrimack Invitational.
North Andover, MA (9/6/09) The Dominican College men's soccer team netted three unanswered goals in the second half to defeat Merrimack College, 3-1 this afternoon in the finale of the 2009 Merrimack Invitational.
Merrimack took a 1-0 lead in the 26th minute of action as Robbie Sabadoz (Ottawa, ON) tallied his second goal of the season off the double assist from Evan Burokas (Auburn, MA) and Olof Lindhe (Stockholm, Sweden).
Dominican answered back with the game tying goal in the 66th minute as senior James Hamilton netted his first goal of the season off the pass from Diego Barahona (Stamford, CT). The Chargers made the last three minutes of regulation exciting netting two goals as senior Dan Kelly netted the game winner and his first goal of the year off the assist from Joe Wright (Stratford-Upon-Avon, England).
DC's insurance goal came at 89:44 as Wright scored his fourth goal of the year as the Chargers went on to the 3-1 victory.
The Warriors out shot the Chargers 15-10 and held an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Charger goalie Brandon Heembrock (Ottawa, Canada) made eight saves in the victory.
With the win Dominican improves to 3-0-1 on the season.
Dominican is back in action on Wednesday when they travel to non-conference foe, the University of Massachusetts-Lowell for a 7pm game.
